5 Ways to Recession-Proof Your DEI Strategy

Businesses looking to streamline operations because of a global recession may consider cutting their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) budgets. But according to research from The Conference Board, leaders must consider DEI strategies as part of a plan to recover when economic conditions improve.

“Anything that isn’t perceived as mission critical might come under heightened scrutiny as to whether or not it should be curtailed or postponed,” says Rebecca Ray, Executive Vice President of Human Capital at The Conference Board. “Every aspect of an organization needs to be thought of in terms of the long-term impact of a short-term decision.”

While the U.S. economy hasn’t officially entered a recession, nearly half of workers think the United States is already in one.
