The retirement of McDonald’s CEO Don Thompson means the number of Black CEOs of Fortune 500 companies will drop by a third from a year ago.

Clarence Otis resigned as CEO of Darden Restaurants at the end of 2014. That leaves four Black CEOs, two of whom lead Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 companiesKenneth C. Frazier at Merck & Co. (No. 16) and Roger W. Ferguson Jr. at TIAA-CREF (No. 37).
