Today marks the 113th celebration of the global holiday known as International Women’s Day, an annual celebration created to commemorate the cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements of women around the world.

The day occurs at the start of Women’s History Month and at a time when issues such as gender inequality, reproductive rights and violence and abuse against women continue to be dire and ongoing problems both domestically and abroad.
