During DiversityInc’s fall conference, “Best Practices on Conquering Recruiting Challenges,” on Wednesday in Newark, New Jersey, National Workrights Institute President Lewis Maltby and Johns Hopkins Medicine International CEO Pamela Paulk shared best practices during their session “The Science Behind Hiring Ex-Offenders.”
Maltby discussed why employment is key for a person with a criminal record “to turn their life around.” Paulk explained how Johns Hopkins has been successful in hiring and retaining ex-offenders.
“Ex-offenders are great workers,” Paulk said. “If you’re the person who gives them a chance, they will be loyal to you. They will make you proud.”
